The plans we set into motion in late 2024 fell through before they could begin, which in the end turned out to be fortunate before we lost any more money to someone whom turned out to not be very trustworthy. It was a lesson learned the hardway, as most lessons are. It also meant the scaling back we had planned did not eventuate and its been full steam ahead since.
What a year it has been! We have met some amazing clients, and in Allans usual style he has not only had them in stiches with his quick wit, but built them some pretty dam good fences, that will be standing for many, many years to come. We even had a couple of very unusual projects to complete for one of our regular clients who likes us think of inovative ways to help his visions come to life. These included a heavy duty plant frame for an exotic plant and a step over frame for a mini apple tree. We loved the challenge and built exactly what the client wanted. Allans abilty to think outside the box, along with the many skills he has honed over a lifetime of building and tinkering, as well as the many skills his father taught him when he had his own esteemed Fencing business have allowed Allan to exceed at all that he attempts. That's not to say the odd thing doesnt go wrong on a job...afterall he is only human and mistakes do happen on the rare occassions, but his abilty to find ways around those problems and reassess the situation and provide a solution are what make him invaluable in the Fencing trade and why he has the brilliant reputation he does.
We again entered the Australian Fencing Awards and again we were Finalist, which is a huge achievment when you see the very high standard of competition we were up against.
The level of expertise and skill of the up market fences that are being built is just incredible.
But for someone who works entirely on his own, and is no longer the young man he once was, credit has to be given where credit is due and Allan has def earned that in bundles, and being recognised for that is the icing on the top.
September bought us a surprise by winning the Small Business Award. Came right out of the blue and we had no idea that someone or someones had entered us. it was a wonderful surprise and we are pretty chuffed by the win, so who ever submitted our business.....thank you so much.
October greeted us this morning and the realisation that Christmas is just over 2 months away is exciting and scary all in one. Its been a hard year in Melbourne (and those that live here will know what I mean) but it has also been a great year. We are forever greatful for the clients who trust us to build their visions, and for the clients who return over and over. You are not just clients, but friends whom we love to hear from.
Well thats it from me for another year. I wish I had more time to post on the blog, but life is just too busy for this gal who wears many hats to keep the wheels turning not only on Wyndham Fencing but also my two other businesses as well.
Enjoy whats left of the year, and don't forget......No matter who you are hiring to do what job.....do your homework. Read reviews, check the ASIC website for registered business, ask...Are you insured? Ask neighbours who they used, do Google searches, and lastly, trust your gut....if something doesnt feel right...move onto the next. This year has seen its fair share of scammers, so be careful and be informed.
Lastly, when Christmas comes we hope you and yours have a happy and safe time with family and friends and we will see you in the new year.
Michelle
